Moondrop MIAD01: The Audiophile's Dream Smartphone with Dual Headphone Jacks and Top-Tier Specs
The Chinese company Moondrop, already established with its release of the portable CD player DiscDream, introduces its latest product — the MIAD01 smartphone, designed with audiophiles in mind. One of its unique features is the presence of two audio jacks for headphones.
The MIAD01 smartphone boasts all modern specifications: it supports 5G, runs on Android 13, and is equipped with 256 GB of internal memory according to the UFS3.1 standard. At the core of its performance is an octa-core Mediatek 7050 processor and 12 GB of LPDDR4X RAM. Additionally, the device features a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with 1080p resolution and a 120 Hz refresh rate, as well as a built-in fingerprint sensor.
In the realm of photography, the MIAD01 is also competitive: it is equipped with a dual rear camera with 64 megapixels, including a wide-angle lens, and a 32-megapixel front camera. Although the camera setup may not seem the most advanced, the photo quality is expected to be high.
Since LG exited the smartphone market in 2021, many audiophiles have highly regarded the sound of Sony Xperia and Asus Zenfone 10 smartphones. However, even with their 3.5-mm audio jacks, they fall short in sound quality compared to budget external DACs, such as those from FiiO.
The MIAD01 offers an excellent solution: it features 3.5-mm and balanced 4.4-mm audio outputs, built right into the smartphone. A built-in 5000 mAh battery provides up to 27 hours of listening time. Preliminary tests suggest that the MIAD01 can compete with products from Sony, Asus, and external DACs from FiiO in terms of sound quality.
Additionally, the MIAD01 supports Bluetooth with SBC, AAC, and LDAC codecs, and implements an Android system resampling bypass, which improves music playback quality. Moreover, the smartphone has a microSD card slot, allowing memory expansion up to 2 TB.
Priced at $399, the MIAD01 is an affordable solution that attracts not only audiophiles but also a broad user base due to its technical specifications and functionality.
